Qur’an Studies
Uloom al Qur’an or Quran Studies is an extensive topic which covers writings and discussions related to the Qur’an in depth. You can find information on this website about the sacred scripture of Islam and Muslims. The Qur’an is divinely protected till the Qiyamah, while the scriptures of Ibrahim (a.s), the Torah of Musa (a.s), the Zabur of Dawood (a.s) and the Bible of Essa (a.s) have become distorted over time. Anti-Islamic agents have created numerous websites to mislead people regarding the Qur’an. Such anti-Islamic agents tend to use words like the Holy Quran, Qur’an, Koran, Islam, Prophet Muhammed, Rasul Allah, Rasulullah, Scripture, Wahi, Tanzil, Tafsir, Tawil, Haqaiq, Ayah, Surah in their discussion there by implying a pro-Islamic sentiment. Therefore, people must be cautioned about the authenticity of sources along with the nefarious aims of elements detrimental to Islam. Qur’an is not confined to any region, nation or any particular era. Qur’an is a miracle on account of its language and inherent meaning that liberates the scope of its teaching over a time infinite. It is the only Divine Book which opens multifarious vistas of learning. It is also a phenomenon from the point of view of its recitation, manifesting the art of musicology amongst many others. It bears resemblance to the fruit of everlasting freshness that one may continue to eat but the desire to eat would never abate.
Qur’an is such a Faiz that its Tawil is also a miracle along with its Zahir meaning. Allah bestowed such a peerless miracle to His beloved Rasul (S) that human wisdom is unable to comprehend it. The Zahir of the Qur’an is Tanzil, the exposition of which is called Tafsir. The esoteric and inner meaning of the Qur’an is Tawil. Shia Fatemi Ismailis believe that the Qur’an had apparent meanings followed by Batin, and then Haqaiq or the divine realities. One of the celebrated Shia Fatemi Ismaili Du’at and paramount intellectual of central Asia, Sayedna Abu Hatim al Razi explained the difference between Tawil and Tafsir as:
“A person who sees a dream and hears words, and upon waking up tries to explain, that is called the Tafsir of the dream. And the wise and learned who interpret the significance of that dream is the Tawil.”
The enemies of the Qur’an tried to completely eliminate the Shariah and attempted unsuccessfully to extinguish the Noor of the Qur’an al Natiq (Imam uz Zaman), the embodiment of Quran’s teachings, and the only true interpreter of its Tanzil and Tawil. The enemies tore the Qura’n al Natiq and raised head of Abi Abdillah al Imam al Husain ibn Ali (as) on the spear at Karbala. However, Al Imam al Husain’s (as) martyrdom secured the continuation of Tanzil and Tawil and his sacrifice guaranteed that Mumineen will transition from this physical world towards Aalam al Quds.
